Homemade Greenhouse status report

As I continue to improve our homemade greenhouse I'll publish status reports of my progress here.  The page above is an article about our homemade greenhouse please take a look if you've just dropped by!

1/18/2005

Another windy winter and the buildings still erect!  Plastic's still in good shape too.  We had a heavy wet snow topped with a heavy freezing rain.  I was worried about the glazing plastic and even the building, but again no problem.

7/7/2004  I'm adding some benches to the greenhouse for Carol.

Coincidently I have some pallets I wanted to get rid of and I said to myself (no sorry not "Self") but "Gee these would make a great bench surface for a greenhouse and their readily available!"  So I stacked up some concrete blocks in a stable fashion, ran two 2 x 4's between them and stacked two pallets on top.  I thought this was a pretty good idea to build greenhouse storage benches.  I've seen wire mesh on wood frames, old snow fence, and of course several modern expensive solutions, but I don't think I've ever seen used pallets.  You can usually find several businesses in your area giving them away.  Sometimes businesses just set them where they are visible.  I ask the first time, what the company's policy is regarding their pallet stack, then I usually can find as many freebies as I need in the future.  They're good kindling wood too!  Please see my woodstove lighting tip.

Hope this helped, Thanks!
Bob
