My review of the Vegetable Gardener's BIBLE by Edward C. Smith.

Quoting Edward Smith page 59: "But if we pick them while they're frozen, the result more closely resembles mush than salad.  But if we wait until the sun has warmed the soil and thawed the leaves, we have a salad that has even more depth of taste than any the summer can produce.  The secret to this success is that you not ????".  Sorry can't give up this gardener's secret.

The W-O-R-D system Wide rows, Organic method, Raised beds, Deep Soil.  I've used Ed's book as a guideline for the deep tilled, raised beds in our garden.  So far so good!  The book contains an excellent vegetable growing reference section providing all the information you need for summer or winter gardening.  A good overview of garden pests and the photographs and drawings are of superb quality.  We found this book truly helpful in assembling our garden infrastructure, when growing, and ultimately storing our harvest.  Ed didn't have to tell us how to eat it though!
